Hello my lovelies,
I’ve got some quite exciting blog ideas for the next few weeks, but I want to put a lot more time and research into them before tentatively clicking “publish”.
So in the mean time, my Sunday post is going to be chatting about something I’m far too familiar with – alcohol! Specifically a bar I’ve visited quite a few times – Dukes 92. I’ll be honest, I mainly stumble in Dukes 92 already half cut and so haven’t been able to fully appreciate the place until I was in there sober last night. Try to contain your #classybird comments.
Located on Castlefield near Deansgate also means that you’re not fighting through the crowds of the city centre to get to where you want to be. And for someone like me that cannot stand a queue or a big crowd of people, it’s perfect.
Making me feel much classier than I am when I’ve had a few, the red brick walls and deep comfortable booths feel very Sex and the City, especially when you’re sipping on a Lychee Cosmo or a Gin Fix. It’s stylish, there’s music, there’s food and a cocktail menu, which pretty much ticks all my boxes.
All this style, does it come with a price tag?! I hear you cry. Don’t get me wrong, you’re not gonna get a pitcher for a fiver in this place, but it’s in no way expensive. £8 for a nice cocktail is pretty standard, and last night it was 2 for 1 which is always good.
Their recent addition of a heated deck is also great, especially if you’re a non-smoker but don’t want to sit inside waiting for the smokers you’re with! The seats are comfy, it’s lovely and warm and in Summer it’ll be a great spot to chill with a few glasses (or bottles) of wine.
I haven’t eaten here yet, but there’s a full food and kids menu (not to mention the desserts look great), which means you can make this a full night out from food to drinks without having to get a taxi all over Manchester.
The great thing about Dukes is that you can dress up to the nines and not feel out of place – or even just a pair of skinny jeans and a nice top (if anyone can define these nice tops we seem to go on about, please get in touch) and you’ll still feel comfortable.
I opted for a classic LBD, my scrappy heels and the most recent addition to my wardrobe – a silk style pink blazer from Missguided. I’ve lusted after these pyjama style blazers for a while now, so I decided to treat myself to this guy and a dark blue blazer with white trim.
It gave my outfit a more casual feel and for £17.50 in the sale, it’s definitely a steal.
Big thanks to Dukes 92 for letting me use an image from their website.
