Vlogs, Pier 8 & Dogs

Good afternoon, folks.

I’m writing this to you sweltering in my bedroom, the fan humming behind me, an ice cold drink sweating on the placemat. It’s a dream. I love hot weather. When I lived in Cyprus we’d be against 35 degrees and it was incredible. You couldn’t get much done, but it didn’t really matter. Especially seen as I didn’t have a job and no bills either. Those were the days.

I’m going to tell you about my Saturday to Monday, because I actually did more than I’ve done in a while. I’ve found myself hiding away since being off work, tending to my stomach or talking myself out of anxiety, so it was nice to get out and do something in the sunshine.

After my high on Friday, I was moody most of Saturday and so decided to start getting ready to see the other half earlier than usual. And then our plans were delayed, so I ended up having my rollers in for 4 hours. I was slightly panicked, because I’d just dyed my hair and didn’t want it to look like a huge, red mess, but it actually looked great.

The delay also meant I was able to do my very first Vlog here! I don’t speak, and it’s nothing special, but I was so excited about uploading it.

I also on Friday managed to do a High Brand Haul at discount prices – but more on that next time. Here’s a sneak peak of the Illamasqua nail varnish – can’t wait to go into detail about how much I managed to save!

The boyfriend and I spent the night in, catching up on our week and snuggling with Black Cat (he doesn’t have a name, he’s just referred to as Black Cat, or BC, or Mr Meow… or whatever, really). He was very famous on my Snapchat on Saturday night.

Sunday we headed from Chorley back to Salford Quays, for lunch and a walk, in the amazing sunshine! I was able to wear my new Miss Pap playsuit which I love so, so, so much. It’s from the new range for £20 and I can’t tell you how much I love it. It’s so flattering, this is the first time in years and years I’ve had my legs out in public!

I love it so much! It’s light so I wasn’t hot, the neckline plunges just the right amount so you’re not worried about anything falling out *wink wink*. It really is super sexy. And I’ve also tried this on with my thigh high black boots and it looked amazing – so even with heels, you could fashion this. Maybe to a glam garden party in the summer?

We went for lunch at the The Lowry, mainly because a few weeks before for Jason’s birthday we’d gone to see the James I play (I’d highly recommend this play, I’ll go into more detail on a separate post!) and we’d noticed a restaurant and bar there called Pier 8. It looks so beautiful, and was recently refurbished for a cool 2 million, so we thought we’d give it a try. We sat out on the deck, which I’m so annoyed I didn’t get a picture of, but it was beautiful.

This is the amazing place that does Vegan Shephard’s Pie – but it was so hot, and I was so naughty and I’m feeling hormonal, so I had a burger. The shame. My stomach was not happy at all. Fortunately the burger was filling so I couldn’t finish it and I’m not a fan of chunky chips (I know right, how very un British of me!), but I tried a few and they were delicious.

Then we went for a walk down the Quay’s and managed to see the Race the Dragon event that was on. I kept referring to it as Chase the Dragon, but we weren’t doing opium in a tent, I promise.

We hadn’t planned to see it, so weren’t exactly sure what it was for, but a lot of people in boats were racing, so it seemed fun! Lots of happy people, a few drinks, the sunshine – it was perfect. We stayed and watched it for a while, then went back to the flat and had an ice lolly on the balcony.

Unfortunately you can’t really see the ice lolly. But you can pretty much imagine what it looks like. You’re not missing out on the Mona Lisa or anything.

Today, despite my lovely weekend, I was wracked with anxiety and nerves all morning. But I’ve forced those thoughts out of my mind, relaxed, took a long walk and just tried to think positively for once instead of spiralling.

This is where having pets is a huge, huge advantage for me, and anyone else I think who struggles with their mindset. I would certainly never have planned to have 3 dogs, 2 parrots and a cat, but that’s how I’ve ended up! And no matter how much hard work they can be, I wouldn’t swap them for the world.

Nothing helps my mind more than walking Alfie, Millie & Elsa. First of all, they’re majorly distracting (mainly because Elsa is so naughty!) and secondly because exercise and fresh air can really change your perspective on things. It’s such a British thing to say that fresh air and a cup of tea can help a bad situation, but it really can. It’s our go-to thing. And I love it.

Just look at their little faces. How can you ever be sad when your dog is always so happy to see you?

So my night, after this long walk, is to have some family time and watch Marcella. I’m starting to appreciate family time more than anything now, as they are hugely supportive, especially now when I need them the most.

What are you doing tonight, my lovelies? And how was your weekend?
